| The National Barrow Show® is the longest running eight-breed event in the United States and has truly earned the title of "World Series Of Swine Shows." Attended by pork producers from throughout the nation and numerous foreign countries. Exhibitors from more than 25 states will gather together to showcase the very best of genetics in the eight major swine breeds. The National Association of Swine Records (NASR) produces this event. In addition to presenting the Premier Sire awards and sale of top boars and gilts in each breed, a collegiate judging contest opened to senior college and junior college contestants has long been part of the show attracting teams of students and their advisers from throughout the Midwest. An Individual Market Hog Show will again be a special function at the show. 96 head were in competition at the 2003 with that amount expected to double at the 2004 event. Local and regional producers can enter crossbred or purebred barrows and gilts and be eligible to compete for $500 Grand Champion Barrow and $500 Grand Champion Gilt premiums in the NBS® Market Hog Show. Mower County Fairgrounds, Austin, MN will once again be the host site for the 58th annual event. The 2004 Show will be the second NBS® event held in the new buildings. At the 2003 Show swine producers had nothing but positive comments on the new facilities with a number of them stating that the buildings “were the best in the swine business”. The Mower County Board along with the Mower County Fair Board has made the commitment to the National Barrow Show® to provide the latest technology and buildings to host the event. Over 42,000 square feet of new buildings and over 800 new pens will provide the best environment for the eight-breed event. Exhibitors, here is the opportunity to showcase your products and services to a “true” producer and breeder. Get next to the nation’s leading purebred swine breeders as they exhibit, display and sell their quality breeding stock. The National Barrow Show® is a trade show specific to the business of swine breeding stock and the products needed to produce this stock. The products range from show quality feeds to buildings and the equipment needed to operate the business. Use this show as a listening post to what the purebred breeders need and require to be competitive in the swine purebred industry.
